Set up your Google Business Profile
Your Google Business Profile is the box that shows your hours, phone and reviews when someone searches for you or for what you sell. It is free. Set it up once, then keep it current.
Steps
- Search for your business name. If a profile already shows, choose the option to claim it. If none shows, add your business.
- Pick the main category with care. Choose the one that matches the main thing you sell, such as plumber or HVAC contractor. Add other categories only for work you really do.
- Add your address or your service area. A business that visits customers can hide its street address and list the towns it serves. A shop customers visit shows its address.
- Verify. Google offers a few ways, such as a postcard, a phone call, an email or a short video. Which ones you see depends on your business.
- Fill in the rest. Add your hours, phone number, website address, a list of services and a short description of what you do.
- Add real photos. Your trucks, your shop, your crew and finished jobs, with the owner's permission when a customer's home shows.
- Keep it current. Update your hours for holidays, and answer questions and reviews as they come in.
Check these against your website
Your business name, address and phone number should read the same on your profile and your site. See keeping them the same. For reviews, see how to ask.
